When things stop feeling special
Endless homogenous playlists humming in the background,
mindless reproductions of images that lose their power,
superficial reactions,
doing things in order to fit in,
lowering the bar again and again......
Everything becomes wallpaper.
Wake up. Where is your voice? Where are your genes? It's not enough that something looks good or sounds good. Don't let that fool you. That's not what love is.
This epidemic of mediocrity makes me want to vomit my brains out. It makes me want to give up. It's tedious and depressing.
When things stop feeling special, you are completely screwed.

Art questions December 2019
Q: Have you done collaborations?
A: No, I've done everything completely by myself.
Most of the faces in my drawings are mine. I don't do self portraits but I use my own face and body for different ideas. As an expressionist who also loves comedy, I wish I had a rubber face. I've still tried to do everything I can with this face.
Q: Are you going to make another film?
A: I've started working on a short wax drawing animation. I'm interested in all elements of filmmaking.
When I was growing up in the 1990s, I was fascinated by movie posters and soundtracks. Most of them were from the 1970s and 80s. They used to be more creative and important. Reading about movies I hadn't seen was also fascinating. I couldn't do the same things now. I couldn't do that with the same kind of intensity.
Q: Are you going to write more music in 2020?
A: There's one jazzy classical piece for my 10th album. The 8th and 9th will be out on January 1, 2020. The music on those is more extreme.
I thought I would be making less music but you never know when the ideas take over.

Our creative subconscious doesn't register wallpaper
Where are the strong images and do they feel interesting?
These are the principal questions I ask myself when I'm experiencing and exploring visual works of art. These are also the principal things we remember from a dream.
The more we see one-dimensional and typical works the hungrier we are for something deeper.
Great artists know how to use simplicity. All my favourite artists from Edvard Munch to Hieronymus Bosch knew how to draw you in.
I can't remember where I first saw Munch's Scream but I remember the feeling.
Puzzled David Hemmings returns to the scene of a murder in Dario Argento's Deep Red (Profondo rosso, 1975).

"Black Classical" Trilogy
Muses with Tin Tongues is the third album in my Avantgarde Black Metal / Black Classical trilogy.
Right now I've got all the guitar tracks and I'm doing the orchestral percussion.
I'm thrilled to say the least. I never thought I would create 3 albums in 6 months by myself. I've been working like a lunatic this year (I'm also studying 5 days a week).

Art questions October 2019
Q: Why do YOU want to be a visual artist?
A: I've been looking for strong images my whole life. I've developed relationships with them and that is the real power.
There are millions of images everywhere. You have to create something that stands out. No one is going to care about your works if the visual impact is nonexistent.
Q: Are you doing any kind of research?
A: Similarly to a lot of the things I do, my research is based on curiosity. Most of the time I'm all over the place and that's what I prefer. I don't want to be an expert.
If you do research based on curiosity, people will make fun of you. They always ask why. Why are you looking up this thing? Why are you reading this book? I don't know. I don't know the outcome.
Ask yourself: am I being joyful?
Q: Do you ever feel like you're running out of ideas?
A: No. There is no ultimate idea, no ultimate sigh of relief or satisfaction.
Q: What museums would you recommend?
A: Ateneum art museum in Helsinki. Ainola, home of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865–1957).

Favourite writers and short stories
This is one of the best things I've ever done. Classic short stories are among the works I admire the most. It's amazing what these writers are able to do in the density of just a few pages. I'm usually impressed by everything surrounding the plot and I only know the title before I start reading.
E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776–1822)
The Sandman
Honore de Balzac (1799–1850)
The Curé of Azay-le-Rideau
The Virgin of Thilhouse
Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
The Cask of Amontillado
The Imp of the Perverse
The Masque of the Red Death
The Oval Portrait
The Pit and the Pendulum
Silence
The Tell-Tale Heart
William Wilson
Guy de Maupassant (1850–1893)
Fear
Lasting Love
Minuet
The Wolf
Anton Chekhov (1860–1904)
A Joke
A Mystery
Sleepy
A Work of Art
Franz Kafka (1883–1924)
A Country Doctor
The Hunter Gracchus
Ray Bradbury (1920–2012)
The Burning Man
Fever Dream
The Golden Apples of the Sun
Italo Calvino (1923–1985)
At Daybreak
The Call of the Water
Conscience
Richard Matheson (1926–2013)

Art questions September 2019
Q: Why did you choose black and white?
A: This wax drawing technique I developed is a monochrome technique. Black and white is not a strange choice in the world of drawing, but you have to understand it. To me it is mainly about shapes. Bringing out the strength and the energy is crucial. I have never had a list of black and white techniques and I never will. I simply believe in its possibilities.
When I was a teenager I discovered the black-and-white photography of Matti A. Pitkänen and the illustrations of Gustave Dore. Films like Eraserhead, Repulsion and Tetsuo furthered my interest in this visual approach. German expressionism finally urged me to start drawing.
Q: What would you do if you couldn't make music or drawings?
A: I've started writing short stories this year. There's lots of ideas and I'm trying to finish one of these stories.
I would also like to be a comedian who writes books, but that's never going to happen. It's a fantasy. I love language, older stand-up, Spike Milligan, Lord Buckley and Groucho Marx.
