Ten albums to be released next year
Five was just expanded to ten.
Albums 21 to 30 will be released each month in 2023. I'm making music under three different names. Everything is created by me.
This is my life and I'm going to be as creative as possible. And when I'm surrounded by people who clearly don't care about it, I want to be even more creative.
In 2023 I'm also recording my first audio commentary for a film.

Art questions December 2022
Q: What's the dumbest thing anyone has ever said about art?
A: I was in an art gallery and someone was talking about German expressionism. He apparently wasn't ready for the intensity.
This person hated expressionism and said that the artists were probably just trying to deal with their "war traumas". Then he laughed. He did a smug laugh.
That's one of the dumbest things ever said.
These people went through two world wars. We have no idea what that's like. These artists suffered immensely in Nazi Germany. They had to leave their home country and a lot of them died.
You don't just paint landscapes and greeting card illustrations. You're going to use your freedom. Your freedom as a human being. As much as possible. Turning off your emotions is not a good idea.
You're going to tell the truth about reality in the form of ideas.

Real fascism is not sane politics or self-expression
"Have you ever noticed how we never get any great composers from the KKK?"
George Carlin
Fascism, far-right extremism and nazism are not someone's own business. Releasing nazi music has nothing to do with freedom. It is the opposite. It is not "open-minded."
I can't believe I have to explain these things. This is why I don't trust so many record labels now.
These desperate, childish morons keep releasing this shit from clowns who use words like "extreme" or "evil." They are like toddlers repeating swear words. They are rock bottom psychos who want their stupidity normalised.
Twisted fantasies about genocide and dictatorships don't belong anywhere. Please stop calling nazi lunacy "political." What the fuck happened to standards?
If you work with fascists, everything goes down the toilet. This is truly the age of lowering the bar, and these nazi morons are proof of that.

Art questions November 2022
Q: What does mainstream success mean to you?
A: It shouldn't be the starting point.
You start with ideas and artistic motives. Your job is to notice what is missing. Creative success involves risk-taking and raising the bar.
The current mainstream is not good at that. You can't do that if you're just brainwashed by some algorithm, chasing numbers and worshipping information.
It's time to fight back. Unknown artists are considered worthless now. It's not about reviving the old underground, we need a new one.
The new creative underground is the answer. This is the real long term commitment. I am not just repeating instant gratification.

Creativity is not a luxury
Some infantile attention whores threw tomato soup at Vincent Van Gogh's sunflower painting. This is not the way to fight anything.
You can call yourself an activist and still be the dumbest person on the planet. It doesn't prove anything. These kids who call themselves informed obviously don't know anything about Van Gogh's life.
Every human culture has creativity. We can not be separated from it. There's always some clueless idiot asking "do we really need art?"
We are the only species talking about the climate. We shouldn't forget ourselves and the atmosphere down here.
Do we need to be human? What do you do when you feel hopeless? Those are my questions. No wonder they're feeling hopeless living in this soulless creativity-free idiocracy.
These infantile self-hating morons are the real pretentious assholes.

Art questions October 2022
Q: Do you read philosophy?
A: Not that much. Creative writing is more interesting to me. I love classic short stories from Chekhov, Maupassant, Poe, Hoffmann, Kafka and Bradbury.
You don't have to bury yourself in philosophy books in order to seem intelligent. Some philosophers may have inspired me in terms of ideas, but that has to do with creativity.

Art questions September 2022
Q: What do you think about movie reaction channels?
A: Mildly amusing at best.
The number one problem with reaction channels is that the people lack experience. The whole thing is backwards. You're supposed to spend your life doing these things. You don't need Patreon for that. The reaction idea is very limited because the people have been limiting themselves.
Anyone can be a smart-ass. It's the easiest thing in the world. And if you just have a checklist, you're going to miss everything that is not in that list.
Personality-driven is a confused term. We need imagination, experience, curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. All these qualities should be part of your personality.
Channels like Cinema Rules are a symptom. All they do is sit on their lazy asses, spew childish drivel and give you a worthless instant "review". You don't get insight from arrogant buffoons like Cinema Arseholes.
I'm not trashing all reaction channels. This is my criticism as someone who's a genuine movie buff. We should be more honest about how much we make fun of these channels.
I have made specific top 50 lists throughout the years. Black-and-white films, Italian films and so on. Those are short lists. That's what happens when you're a movie buff.

Night of the Seven Suns is out now
1. Between Two Old Trees
2. Thundering Cascade
3. Foghorns of the Owls in the Night
4. Farther Into the Wilds
5. Spirit of the Forest
6. From Mere Stone
7. Land of Winter Twilight
Night of the Seven Suns is my 20th album and it was inspired by material I wrote 20 years ago. It is similar to my first album released in 2012.
Night of the Seven Suns is also a 1966 photo book by Matti A. Pitkänen. It portrays a year in the wilds of Kuusamo. Titles on the album were taken from the book. Original Finnish texts by Airi Hast. This album is dedicated to the memory of Matti A. Pitkänen.

Art questions August 2022
Q: What does curiosity mean to you?
A: It means that I don't make everything about myself. The opposite of curiosity is self-centered indifference.
I'm actively looking for challenging works without automatically comparing myself to someone else.
Having curiosity means that I do extensive research instead of speculating and jumping to conclusions.
I'm not here to follow trends. Period. Life is too short. You don't have to be on Instagram if you don't want to.
My whole life I've been hearing this "be like everyone else" crap. I have never cared about it and I'm not going to start now.
I want you to care about art. Show how much you care. Value experience, have curiosity, use your imagination, talk about ideas.

Dumbest Song Titles Explained
1. Britney Spears: E-Mail My Heart
The correct address is first name (dot) last name (at) heart (dot) org.
2. ZZ Top: Crucifixxx-A-Flatt
Explains itself.
3. Bryan Adams: I Wanna Be Your Underwear
It's on his Greatest Shits album, So Far So Poop.
4. Ted Nugent: Change My Sex
In this touching song, Ted goes from molesting guitars to molesting leaf blowers.
5. Nightwish: How's the Heart?
The keyboardist of Nightwish heard someone say this in an elevator, where he goes to listen to his own music.

Predictive Desperation
If everything is about marketing, you can sell used toilet paper. It just depends on how you market it. They're already selling the crap, why not sell the paper as well. Here's my idea: selling used plastic q-tips because of nostalgia. What's more nostalgic than that?
Here's a question: when is the last time you didn't fake excitement? The idiots who think that everything is about marketing have memorised a formula for success. It's the opposite of excitement. It's predictive desperation. An illusion. It's the most commercial approach and it has nothing to do with actual long term commitment.
This is nothing but desperate people trying to justify narrow-mindedness. In other words, nothing but condescending force feeding from these marketing maniacs.
Don't tell me what is "hashtag relatable." You're just revealing how much uniqueness is frowned upon.
Those who don't chase numbers usually understand that money is a boring topic. It might seem like the only topic when all is mainstream and all is glossy. Have fun being bored to death.
The more I see this discouraging crap around me, the more creative, playful and open-minded I want to be.

Art questions July 2022
Q: How do you promote classical music to people who say they don't know anything about it?
A: Classical is not all the same. Start listening to all kinds of composers from all periods. Don't worry about target audiences. Don't worry about your own limitations either.
Classical doesn't need to be made sexier. If you're trying to push some cheesy crap like "classical for headbangers", you are completely on the wrong path.
We have had things like symphonic metal for decades. A lot of these bands aren't really changing anything. Usually they're just writing metal music, not classical.
As a listener, expand your horizons. As a composer, write the music you can't find.

Art questions May 2022
Q: You are a one-man filmmaker. Is there any element of filmmaking you dislike?
A: I hate trailers. I have always hated them and they did nothing for my imagination, unlike posters.
I recently saw Four Flies On Grey Velvet again and I saw the Italian trailer for the first time. It's one of my favourite trailers because it was designed. They had some props from the film but they shot some simple things for the trailer. That's how you do it. Make a trailer that creatively represents your film.
It's funny because this interesting film was obscure for years, but the trailer is one of the best I've seen. I still haven't made any myself.

400 Wax Drawings - Artist Retrospective
January 2014. I'm drawing spontaneously with a black crayon and rubbing the wax with my fingers until I get blisters. Then I pick up an eraser and smear the wax without stopping to think. That energy will never leave me. After I make the first marks on a watercolour sheet, I can't put it down. I don't have a pile of unfinished works or 50 drafts of one thing.
I'm doing this because of the ideas. As a self-taught artist whose visual and musical skills run in the family, I understand the importance of curiosity. Today's art in general is quite weak in terms of ideas. True imagination is something you radiate.
As the title of my first display in 2017 suggests, the subconscious and natural forces are my main influences. The metaphysical element in my drawings is something that represents those forces, not just something "abstract."
Am I trying to shock? A response like shock is linked to an element of surprise. Shocking requires intelligence. If you don't have that, or if you're not an interesting person, the response is embarrassment.
63 out of 400 Finnish drawing titles begin with the letter K. The fact that C is not a Finnish letter is the only explanation I can think of. The process of coming up with a title is just as intuitive as my drawing technique. The list of titles is essentially a list of things and emotions. Connecting them in fascinating ways is my life's mission.

Art questions April 2022
Q: Have you ever written poetry?
A: Yes, in 2012. I experimented with different methods and realised that I would rather do it in the form of drawings, films and titles. Those methods are still useful and I now have ideas for short stories.
The stories will be written in Finnish first and then translated into English. I get ideas in both languages but I'm more confident in Finnish when it comes to sentences.

The purpose of the new creative underground
The creative underground is here to introduce something new, take risks, raise the bar and focus on what is important.
If the first thing out of your mouth is money and numbers, you are insane. These sell-outs are proud of being mentally lazy cowards.
I love how they reveal themselves. Unfortunately this anti-art aggression is one of the most actively marketed movements. Their job is to brainwash you into believing that everyone's dream is to be the "most popular" or "the highest rated."
I'm going to tell you what the dream is. The dream is making these things. Since 2012, I have recorded 20 albums, made 400 drawings, released one feature film and three short films. I have been living the dream.
The current mainstream nitwits have embraced the 'mindless garbage dump' approach. There's nothing special or unique about anything they're hyping.
Why am I using the word creative in addition to the underground? Like many initially exciting terms, the underground has been debased by desperate lunatics. True creative impulse cannot be prostituted. There's nothing visionary about doing stupid things in order to fit in. It's the celebration of opportunity instead of creativity. When there's a specific audience waiting for specific things, that's when things are dead.
"Do your own thing", "you do you", "believe you can." Is anyone actually ready for these things? What is the point of DIY if you're not allowed to DI?
