Darkness, panic and being alive

Do you want to be here? If the answer is yes, it has to mean something.

I love dark works, strange ideas and beauty in unexpected places. The key is that I'm trying to understand these ideas and feelings that are very hard to explain. I don't just give up.

I have to do these things without panicking. If panic is your reaction, you won't understand anything.

If you create great works - paintings, films, books, music - it proves you're experiencing the joy of ideas. It also proves you want other people to experience that joy. It doesn't matter how dark your work is. If it's done well, people will be moved and they will have a meaningful relationship with your work.

I am tired of pretentious artists who say they want to be depressed. Or that they want to hurt themselves and it's cool. They don't know what they're talking about.

You face the real challenge when you are alive, awake and sober. Are you truly ready for that? Are you truly here?
